The film captures four years (late 2019-late 2023) of an unprecedented wave of feminist and antifascist activism, as expressed onto walls through collages sharing the same graphic style.
Political gestures, both individual and collective, these calls to rise up against patriarchy are changing all at one time the public space and subjectivities under our very eyes.

Natacha Thiéry : Images blend with my memory. The urge to keep a trace of things that move, touch, or revolt me is often what sparks my projects, which take the shape of documentary essays. Born in Paris, I have been an avid photographer (analogic then digital). After studying film and literature, I fulfilled my desire for filmmaking thanks to Super-8 and small digital cameras. Paying close attention to the often-unexpected intangibles that shape our reality, I look for means to bring the practice of documentary filmmaking in line with resistance to violence (in its many forms), disappearance or oblivion.
In parallel, I am sharing my passion for cinema as a teacher in Film Studies at the University of Arts in Amiens. With the students, one of our common work consists in trying to identify the aesthetical singularity and the way each film moves us.
Cries Tear Through The Silence is my second medium-length film, following Dreaming Of Gotokuji on a Moonless First of May (2020) which was selected in several festivals including Cinéma du Réel 2021 (“Popular Front(s)” section). I also directed three shorts.
