The passing of Françoise Foucault

It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Françoise Foucault, a key figure in the Bilan du film ethnographique, which became the Jean Rouch International Festival in 2008.

For years, right up until 2010, as the Bilan du film ethnographique followed immediately after Cinéma du réel in March, Françoise would pay us a visit during the winter to ‘shop around’ among the films submitted at Cinéma du réel. This led to afternoons of discussion over a glass of chilled Marie Brizard!

A member of the Friends of Cinéma du réel association, she remained loyal to the festival, which she attended right up until recent years.

We will miss her humour and her zest for life.
