Robert Beavers born February 10, 1949 in Brookline, Ma. USA.
I attended public and private schools, including Boston Latin School and Deerfield Academy,
before making my first 16mm film in New York. After Spiracle (1967) was premiered at the EXPRMNTL in Belgium, I continued to live and work in various European countries, with filmmaker, Gregory J. Markopoulos. After his death, I lived and worked in Switzerland and the USA and since 2011 in Berlin with the filmmaker, Ute Aurand. Whitney Museum, NY, Tate Modern, London, BAM/PFA (Berkeley) and other archives have organized retrospectives. Oesterreichisches Filmmuseum published a monograph edited by Rebekah Rutkoff in 2016 and Double Vision by Rutkoff was published by MIT Press in 2024. The Ground (2002) was added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress in 2020.
