The poet, translator and close friend of W.G. Sebald, who devoted a chapter to him in The Rings of Saturn, is portrayed in his apple orchard and in the rustic, faded rooms of his modest home.

The film depicts the moment at dusk when the lighthouse becomes functional. Filmed in St Abb’s Head Lighthouse in Scotland, the title refers to the 1969 disappearance of Donald Crowhurst, the round-the-world yachtsman.

Three generations of great British actors, David Warner, Stephen Dillane, and Ben Whishaw, who have all played Hamlet on the London stage, are filmed separately but together within the same photochemical film frame through a process of masking inside the film camera.

JG was inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story The Voices of Time and Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty in the saline landscape of Utah.

Named after Alain Resnais's 1977 film Providence, this work portrays iconic British actor David Warner sharing his film frame with hummingbirds.
