I followed the extremely symbolic RER B suburban train line that crosses places steeped in history, like the Basilica of Saint-Denis, where the kings of France are buried, or the Shoah memorial adjacent to the Drancy internment camp. Following this line, with this question in mind, meant crossing through the history of France but also being attentive to stories, memories, faces.
The film attempts to say that this “we” is as much a question as a doubt, a statement or a project being built. Fox hunting, the writer Pierre Bergounioux, Front National voters, small suburban houses, high-rise blocks, my father, the kings of France, guys from housing estates and children are all integrated without hierarchy into this “we” that I’m looking for. If there are a multiplicity of worlds living close to one another, the film aims to weave a link and a path between these small islands.
