The 2011 Award List

The international jury, made up of  Marta Andreu (producer, Spain), Gueorgui Balabanov (director, Bulgaria), Marie-Hélène Dozo (editor, Belgium), Jean Gaumy (photographer and director, France) and Mehran Tamadon (director, Iran) awarded the following prizes:

  • CINÉMA DU RÉEL GRAND PRIZE to
    Palazzo delle Aquile by Stefano Savona, Alessia Porto, Ester Sparatore (France, 2011)
    Granted EUR 8,000 by the Bpi with the support of the Procirep.
  • SCAM INTERNATIONAL PRIZE to
    Distinguished Flying Cross by Travis Wilkerson (USA, 2011)
    Granted EUR 4,600 by the Scam.

 

The First Films jury, made up of  Raed Antoni (director, Palestine), Maria Bonsanti (programmer, Festival dei Popoli, Italy) and Dominique Marchais (director, France), awarded the the :

  • JORIS IVENS PRIZE to
  • City Veins (Il Futuro del mondo passa da qui) by Andrea Deaglio (Italy, 2010)
    granted EUR 7,500 by Marceline Loridan-Ivens, the European Foundation Joris Ivens and the association The Friends of Cinéma du réel.
  • Special mention to A Still Jacket by Ramón Giger (Switzerland, 2010)

 

The international jury together with the First Films jury Films awarded the

  • SHORT FILM AWARD to
    Strange Rumor of the Land When It’s Broken With a Hoe (Scene 75, Juana Lopez’s Orchard, Take 01) by Juan Manuel Sepulveda (Mexico, 2011)
    granted EUR 2,500 by the Bpi and Vectracom (two digi Beta tapes with embedded subtitles).

 

The Youth Jury, made up of five high school students from the Lycée Henri Bergson (Paris 19th arr.) and the LycéeSophie Germain (Paris 4th arr.), accompanied by the director Vanina Vignal awarded the

  • YOUNG JURY PRIZE to
    Vanishing Exercises by Claudio Pazienza (Belgium / France, 2011)
    granted EUR 2,500 by the Centre Pompidou with the support of the City of Paris.
  • Special mention to Fragments of a Revolution, Anonymous (Iran / France, 2011)

 

The Libraries Jury, made up of  Joël Gourgues (Médiathèque Pierre et Marie Curie from Nanterre), Christine Puig (Médiathèque José Cabanis from Toulouse), Emmanuel Valentini (Bibliothèque Marguerite Yourcenar from Paris), with the director Jean-Patrick Lebel awarded the

  • LIBRARY PRIZE to
    La Mort de Danton by Alice Diop (France, 2011)
    granted EUR 6,000 by the ’Direction générale des médias et des industries culturelles’ - Ministry of Culture & Communication
  • Special mention to
    The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye by Marie Losier (USA / France, 2011)

 

The Institut Français Jury made up of  François Caillat (director), Elsa Cornevin (Film and TV officer at the French Embassy in Lisbon - Portugal), Anne Coutinot, Christine Houard and Anne-Catherine Louvet (Cinema Department of the Institut Français) awarded the

  • LOUIS MARCORELLES PRIZE to
    Fragments of a Revolution , Anonymous (Iran / France, 2011)
    granted by the Institut français in the form of purchase of rights and the publishing of a multilingual DVD (up to EUR 10,000).
  • Special Mention to
    The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye de Marie Losier (USA / France, 2011)

 

The ’Département du pilotage, de la recherche et de la politique scientifique - Direction des patrimoines’ of the French Ministry of Culture and Communication awarded the

  • INTANGIBLE HERITAGE PRIZE to
    La Place by Marie Dumora (France, 2011)
    granted EUR 2,500.
